As early as 1997, Marina De Brink was first awarded the 'Blue Flag'. The Blue Flag is an internationally recognised environmental distinction that is annually awarded to beaches and marinas which participate in the campaign and have proved themselves to be clean and safe.
The aim of the campaign is to permanently engage governments, companies and leisure seekers in the pursuit of maintaining clean and safe water, the beauty of nature and a healthy environment.
The 'Blue Flag' is awarded in recognition of the efforts made by the beach municipality or marina operator in this connection. For tourists, the 'Blue Flag' serves as the symbol identifying the status and quality of good beaches and marinas.
The 'Blue Flag' is an initiative of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). The FEE is an independent international network of organisations that has grown to cover 29 countries who are engaged in providing information on nature and the environment.
Marina De Brink comes tops among 'Blue Flag' marinas.
The 'Blue Banner' complements the 'Blue Flag' and is a quality symbol for boat owners and skippers whose conduct on the water is responsible, considerate and environmentally friendly.
Any further relevant information is available from the marina site office.
Safety is also an important aspect at Marina De Brink. Staff are therefore trained to provide First Aiders and in the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) (see also Johan Dolman's diploma in the PDF) and a range of crucial First Aid equipment is also available, such as a heart defibrillator, a wheel chair and other First Aid materials.
The marina maintains a range of fire-fighting equipment, and the complex is inspected annually by the local Fire Brigade for any possible shortcomings, which can then be immediately rectified. Furthermore, the marina complex is secured by fencing and the installation of surveillance cameras is currently being considered.
Recently, Marina De Brink has also received further international recognition in the form of the 4 Gold Anchors from The Yacht Harbour Association Ltd. This means that Marina De Brink complies with various criteria for making a range of facilities available within the marina complex.
